Right-of-Way (R.O.W.)/Easement
A permit approved by the Superintendent of Highways is required for any work performed in the right-of way. Town Code states that nothing of a permanent nature or character shall be placed in the right-of-way or easements. This includes fences, sheds, invisible fence, sprinkler systems, landscaping, etc..
Easements may encompass your property for many reasons. It is best to check with the building or engineering department (585-872-1000) to verify what might exist on your property. Nothing of a permanent nature or character may be placed on or within the easement boundaries.
