Mission Statement
The Town of Webster Parks, Recreation Department is dedicated to offering residents broad-based leisure opportunities, a balanced system of parklands, preservation of open spaces and the enhancement of environmental and cultural qualities that will foster the growth of healthy lifestyles.
The Webster Parks Recreation Department (WPRD) has served Town and Village residents for more than 35 years. Since its inception, many changes have been implemented to keep pace with the expanding and changing population of the Webster community.
WPRD provides recreational, social and educational programs and activities throughout the year. Programs and activities are provided in various locations serving a wide range of interests and ages, from pre-school to senior citizens.
The Town boasts five major parks, totaling 450 acres of land in different locations throughout the Town, as listed below:
- North Ponds Park, located off the Route 104 expressway feeder road between Route 250 and Holt Road;
- Ridge Park, located adjacent to the Town Hall (Ridge Road);
- Empire Park, located on Empire Boulevard, just south of the Theater complex;
- Irving R. Kent Memorial Park, located at Basket and Schlegel Roads;
- Ridgecrest Park, located on Ebner Drive at the Webster Community Center.
- Finn Park, located at 850 Maple Drive and extends east to Gravel Road.
The town also has an extensive trail system including the Hojack Line and the Crescent Trail. Visit Friends of Webster Trails for trail information and maps.
The Open Space initiative has acquired and protected over 1,000 acres of land. Please refer to Properties and Open Space on the town website for more information.
Program information regarding various parks and recreation programs is published three times each year (January, May, September) in the Town newsletter, the Town Times. The program guide is also available on line. Registration is also available on line.
The Webster Community Center is located at 985 Ebner Drive. For information on programs or services please call 872-7103. Hours of operation are Monday – Thursday, 8:30 am – 9:00 pm and Friday and Saturday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Senior Services
The Senior Services division provides programs and services for senior citizens 60 and over and their spouses of any age, including a noon (nutrition) meal weekdays. A monthly newsletter and activity calendar is available on site and on the department’s website. Activities include fitness classes, blood pressure screening, bingo, holiday parties, entertainment, guest speakers and much more. A caseworker is available Friday mornings to assist seniors and their families gain information about services, benefits, and health insurance. Transportation is provided daily from home to the center and trips are planned to local shopping areas.
