Highway Department Mission Statement
The Webster Highway Department is well known for its innovative and aggressive approach to every aspect of highway maintenance and technology with an environmentally conscientious effort. Questions or concerns regarding roads, streets, highways or drainage should be directed to the Highway Department at 872-1443.
Location/Hours
The Webster Highway Department is located at 1005 Picture Parkway off Hard Road. Office hours are May 1st through October 1st 6:30 – 4:00 M-Th. and 6:30 – 10:30 F; the rest of the year 7:00 – 3:30 M-F.
Leaf Pick-Up
The Highway Department offers leaf pick-up usually starting the 3rd week of October through the 1st week of December. Leaves should be raked to the road’s edge; but NOT IN THE ROAD. It is against the law to place anything in the road including leaves, sticks, snow, etc..
Right-of-Way (R.O.W.)
A permit approved by the Superintendent of Highways is required for any work performed in the Right-of-Way. Town code states that nothing of a permanent nature or character shall be placed in the right of way or easements. This includes fences, sheds, invisible fence, sprinkler systems, landscaping, etc..
Snow Season
The Highway Department runs three shifts during the snow season. The ‘A’ shift is 7:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.; ‘B’ shift is 12:30 P.M. – 8:30 P.M.; ‘C’ shift is 3:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M.. January 1st to April 1st snow shall stay on your own property.
There is NO PARKING on roads in the Town of Webster from November 1st thru May 1st during the hours of 11 P.M. to 7 A.M. or during any snow emergency.
Roadways
The Town maintains 122 miles of Town roads, 109 miles of County roads, and 37 miles of State roads during the winter season within our 45 sq. mile town.
Mailbox Policy
It is the Highway Department’s policy to replace mailboxes that are damaged by the Town during snow removal operations with a standard post and mailbox. This practice is done as a courtesy; only standard replacement will be provided.
Drainage
The Town also maintains over 78 miles of creeks/streams, 103 retention/detention ponds, over 1000 miles of storm sewers and over 3200 catch basins.
