WEBSTER VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

Formed in 1905 and incorporated in 1906, the Webster Volunteer Fire Department has served the residents of the Village of Webster, the East Webster Fire District and the Northeast Penfield Fire District faithfully for over 100 years.  From it's beginning to the present, the WVFD has remained an all-volunteer Fire Department. Webster Volunteer Fire Department has transformed through the years, beginning with an early 1900's man drawn, man operated pumper to a 21st century diesel powered pumper which transports firefighters and their equipment to the fire scene, with the capabilities of pumping 1500 gallons of water per minute.  The members of the Webster Volunteer Fire Department expect to continue to provide the same professional, quality and caring service to the North East Joint Fire District, which comprises the same area as the original three entities.  Their inherited forefather's enthusiasm to serve the citizens of this community in the times of need shall persevere long into the next century.

VolunteersThe 2009 Webster Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of approximately 160 members with 75 members being active Firefighters or Fire Police. Each active Firefighter through out the year maintains his or her skills by attending weekly drills and attending classes at the Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility. In order to remain a Volunteer Member, each person must maintain a certain number of training hours within our Department and set forth by OSHA and the State of New York. A number of members have gone further and obtained their New York State Emergency Medical Services Responder or Certified First Responder Certification. The Webster Volunteer Fire Department is constantly upgrading its’ skills in preparation of meeting the growing needs of our Community.

Station 2
Roseland Station

The Webster Volunteer Fire Department is visibly present at our 2 updated stations. Station 1 (Enderlin Station), which opened in June 2009, is located at 35 South Avenue and Station 2 (Roseland Station) is at the corner of Plank and Salt Roads. During the year the WVFD is active in the community when marching in the Memorial Day Parade, teaching during Fire Prevention Week, at the Fireman’s Carnival, Volunteer Fireman Parades, the KIDDIE parade, during Village Days, at Open Houses, at the 9/11 Memorial Services and during every fire works display. We train at Wegmans on Holt Road, at Spry Junior High School, at North Ponds Park, at Xerox, and at Town Centre. We are present on the streets of the Village and Town when we driver train and respond to emergency investigations.

The WVFD has 2 sources of income, the annual Fireman’s Carnival and a letter fund drive. The money received is used to promote Fire Safety Education, Recruitment material, maintenance of the Carnival buildings and grounds, and provides Class “A” uniforms, work “T” shirts, maintenance supplies and tools. The WFVD supports Webster Youth Sports, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, M.S. Society, Boy Scouts, Mercy Flight, Finger Lakes Burn Association, Special Education Parent Teachers Association, Make A Wish Foundation, Webster Comfort Care, Webster Community Chest, Webster Police 1000 Club, New York State and Monroe County Firefighters Associations as well as Firefighters who have fallen on hard times.

The Fireman’s Carnival is the biggest yearly event that the WVFD is noted for. It takes approximately 6 months to plan the event, 3 weeks to set up the grounds, 4 days of complete chaos and 3 days to put everything away. It is the event which says to the community Thanks for your Support. All during this time the WVFD maintains the Fire Stations and is ready to come to the aide of the community.
