Honoring Town Employees on this Labor Day Holiday

In a perfect world wouldn’t it be nice if all of us just worked on Labor Day and had the rest of the year off?  Most people would enjoy that concept, but we know in reality that will never happen.

I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere thanks and give praise to the employees of the town of Webster as we celebrate Labor Day.

The town of Webster is fortunate to have dedicated individuals, many who have been working at the town for decades, whose job it is to make sure that you (the public) are treated with the highest respect in all matters, be it basic questions that need to be answered, or highly technical issues that need to be resolved.  We also have a staff of part-time employees who also give a 100% effort when it comes to taking care of our customer’s needs.

Besides our staff of full and part-time employees, we have a number of citizens who are members of various boards; the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Library Board, the Conservation Board, the Cable Access Commission, and of course our Town Board.

Labor Day was first celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City. Besides honoring America’s labor force, Labor Day also marks the traditional end of summer and the start of fall activities. The opening of school isn’t that far away either, so be prepared as school buses will be picking up and taking students to and from school.

May you, your family, and friends, enjoy the Labor Day holiday. Make sure it’s a safe one!  If you plan to travel by car, please drive with care, make sure to wear your seat belts, and please don’t drink and drive. The same advice goes for boaters when it comes to practicing safety.

Just a reminder that Town Hall will be closed on Monday, September 6th.We will be open for business on Tuesday, September 7th.
