TOWN OF WEBSTER ANNOUNCES DEPARTMENT LEADERSHIP TRANSITIONS

Incoming Town Clerk/Tax Receiver appointed, with unanimous support, by Town Board;

Town Attorney announces upcoming retirement

Webster, NY— Webster Town Supervisor Tom Flaherty announces the appointment of Danene Marr as Webster’s new Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes, effective July 1, 2024. Marr’s appointment was unanimously approved by the Webster Town Board at the Thursday, June 6 meeting of the board.

Webster’s current Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes Dorothy Maguire is set to retire June 30. Maguire’s retirement was announced in March as an extensive selection process was initiated to recruit and hire for this position.

Marr comes to the Town of Webster after two decades of service to Paychex. Throughout her career, she has developed extensive leadership and project management skills, overseen and worked within a team environment, and displayed discretion working with confidential financial records. Her experience will be an asset to the Town of Webster.

“The Town Clerk and Tax Receiver plays a vital role in municipal government,” said Flaherty. “Three months ago, the Town commenced a robust selection process to hire for this position. I am confident Ms. Marr will carry out the responsibilities and duties of this role with the honesty, integrity, and reliability the Webster community has come to expect.”

At the June 6 meeting, Town Attorney Charles Genese announced his upcoming retirement, as well. Genese has served the Town of Webster as Town Attorney for over 25 years. He is anticipated to retire by year-end.

In the months leading up to Genese’s retirement, there will be an extensive selection process congruent with the hiring process for department leadership positions at the Town of Webster. The posting for the position will be public in the coming weeks.

In addition to traditional hiring practices for this position, the Town of Webster will post a Request for Proposals (RFP) for general legal services.
