Highway Updates

Monday January 26th, 2026:

Property owners are responsible for clearing their own driveways. According to NYS Vehicle, Traffic, and Highway Laws, it is illegal to push, blow, or plow snow into the street or across the road, as this creates hazardous driving conditions.

All snow must remain on your own property. If you hire a private contractor, both you and the driver can be ticketed for improper snow placement. Additionally, please keep trash and recycling bins out of the road, shoulders, and gutters to ensure safety. Thank you for helping us keep the roads clear and safe this winter.

Friday January 23rd, 2026:

With the season's first major storm approaching, please keep the following safety reminders in mind:
  • Give Plows Extra Room: Snowplows are large vehicles that frequently back up at intersections. For your safety, please maintain a significant distance at all times.
  • Parking Restrictions: On-street parking is prohibited on town roads from November 1 through May 1 between midnight and 7:00 AM, as well as during declared snow emergencies.
  • Towing Policy: Any vehicle obstructing snow removal operations—even outside of posted restricted hours—may be towed. Owners are responsible for all associated towing and storage fees.
Please avoid parking along the roadway during winter weather. While we prefer not to tow, keeping the roads clear is essential for public safety.
